In 2014, amidst the lush rice fields of rural Vietnam, the seeds of Science In A Suitcase (SIAS) were sown. Founders Nicole and Andy, anticipating the arrival of their first child, embarked on a unique "babymoon"—a journey through Southeast Asia with a mission to inspire. Joined by fellow robotics enthusiasts Lillan and Antonio, they spent three weeks traversing Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, introducing disadvantaged children to the wonders of science and engineering through LEGO robotics. This transformative experience ignited a passion to make STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education accessible to underserved communities worldwide.
At SIAS, we believe that building technical literacy is essential for engaging with today's world. Our programs focus on teaching the fundamentals of engineering and computer science, while also nurturing creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and resilience. We empower children to transform their ideas into tangible prototypes, enabling them to make a positive impact on their world.
Since our inception, SIAS has expanded its reach from Austin, Texas, to countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Kenya, South Africa, and Suriname. We've donated over 180 LEGO robotics kits to under-resourced youth, trained hundreds of teachers and mentors globally, and sparked new possibilities for countless children. Our hands-on workshops and collaborative projects are designed to ignite curiosity and foster a love for learning, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to explore the limitless possibilities of STEAM education.
Join us in our mission to empower young innovators and make STEAM education accessible to all. Be the spark that ignites learning! Be assured that 100% of your donation will go direct to program impact! Together, we can inspire the next generation of thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers.
