Mission Statement

The Round Rock Area Serving Center, a Texas non-profit corporation, also known as the Serving Center, carries out a community-wide mission of churches, other organizations, and individuals serving human needs in the City of Round Rock and surrounding areas.

Needs Statement

The Serving Center provides food to indigent, low-income, homeless, and disabled people through the food pantry. Food insecure households are those in which families have decreased the quality and quantity of food they consume because of lack of money, to the point where they are likely to be hungry on a frequent basis. Food insecurity is defined as the lack of access to enough food to fully meet basic needs at all times due to a lack of financial resources. The rising costs of housing, utilities, transportation, and healthcare force many client families to make impossible choices and painful sacrifices. Even with a steady source of income, the cost of living in Central Texas makes it difficult for families to pay bills, clothe their children, and purchase nutritious food. Testimonials

The Serving Center helped me when I needed a hand up during a difficult time. They gave me food, clothing, a bed, and paid my water and electric bill. I had a termination notice for the water, and we were filling our bathtub with water before we left the house each morning. The Serving Center paid the bill and kept the water from being disconnected. I came to the Serving Center because my five children and I were sleeping in our car. I had nowhere to go. They put us in a hotel and then helped us find an apartment. They furnished the apartment, gave us food, and helped with the rent. I was able to get a job and my kids were able to continue school because of the Serving Center. Since then, they have continued to help with food and bills when I need the extra help. I am able to continue to live at home because the Serving Center helps pay for my prescriptions and utilities. They built a ramp to my door. Living on a fixed income makes it hard to pay for food and my bills. I get food three times a month. I couldn't do it without the Serving Center's help.
