Our Story

Every Family Deserves a Village:

Building an essential community of support for Austin’s new parents.

Our Story

We’ve all heard the slogan “It takes a village.”, however, many new parents living in the U.S. today find they lack community and support. They feel lonely, isolated, exhausted, and desperate for a village.

At Partners in Parenting (PIP), we believe in the power of peer connection to bring parents out of insolation and into a community of supported, confident caregivers. We envision a day when every family in Central Texas has a village they can rely on.

How does PIP support families?

Partners in Parenting has supported hundreds of Central Texas families in the transition to parenthood since 2014 (we are turning ten this year!). We offer parent support groups in English and Spanish for expecting parents and caregivers with infants, babies, and toddlers.

For 8 to 12 weeks, parents meet to connect and discuss an array of topics like feeding, sleep, emotions, relationship changes, and many others. Together, parents share their “highs and lows” of the week, learn tips and resources, and hear from guest speakers who are experts in topics related to infant or child development.

PIP recognizes that the challenges families' face differ significantly across our community. Our goal is to continue expanding our services to reach more families that have historically been underserved such as Spanish-speaking, Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA+ families. Our goal is to eliminate systemic barriers to accessing this essential support by offering a sliding fee scale. Families are empowered to select a free or paid group of their choice based on our flexible pricing model. We also provide basic needs for families in our free groups through HEB gift cards, which families can use to purchase diapers, wipes, formula, groceries, or any other essentials they may need.

What is PIP’s goal for 2024?

This year, our goal is ambitious, yet simple: we want to reach more families! Our goal is to make PIP a household name in Central Texas, so every family knows exactly where they can find community and connection in the early years of parenthood.

With your help, we can ensure every parent has the support and resources they need to provide positive, nurturing experiences during the early years, so all children of Central Texas have the foundation they need for a flourishing future. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
